Neuropsychological Evaluation

Clients seek neuropsychological evaluation when they are struggling with some aspect of their cognitive skills. For example, someone might struggle to: concentrate, remember what they need to do, begin tasks, prioritize their day, organize their materials, meet deadlines, or complete exams within the allotted time. Neuropsychological assessment is a way to measure your skills across cognitive domains, like attention and memory, and determine whether your performance is indicative of a particular diagnosis.

The process begins with a diagnostic interview, during which we discuss your reasons for seeking the evaluation and I gather relevant information about your background. Based on the information you provide, I design a battery of tests that speaks directly to your questions. The assessment itself involves a combination of paper-and-pencil and computer-based tests. During a subsequent feedback session, I will review specific test findings, any diagnosis, and tailored treatment recommendations. You will receive a written report with all relevant information.

Such evaluations are particularly helpful for individuals with:

  • neurological disorders like concussion, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and stroke

  • neurodevelopmental disorders like AD/HD, dyslexia, and autism spectrum disorders

  • other medical or psychiatric conditions associated with cognitive change like diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, and bipolar disorder
